PCR test results should begin at the time you’re in Canada
For most Canadians, a PCR test is covered by their insurance plan. However, the test is not instant, and it can take up to five days to get a result. In such a scenario, it is important to start your PCR test results as soon as possible after you arrive in Canada.
The PCR test is required by the government of Canada for anyone flying into the country from an overseas country. The requirement is in place because of the COVID-19 virus, which causes AIDS. More than a dozen countries have implemented a similar requirement, and some airlines have implemented it as well. The requirement applies to air passengers, but there are exceptions for air crew and emergency service providers, and planes landing in Canada to refuel.
For travelers who are unable to meet this requirement, they should undergo a 14-day quarantine period. They must also complete a second test on day eight of the mandatory 14-day quarantine. These tests are free, but if you are unable to complete them, you must immediately return to your home country.
