Ana Kinsella’s full-length novel Look Here
Look Here is the first full-length novel from Irish writer Ana Kinsella. It charts the author’s life in London, where she works and writes for various publications. The novel is a layered portrait of a city, and it will make readers want to slow down and look closer.
While many contemporary novels are structured like a series of stories, Look Here is a collage of essays – painterly descriptions of London, interviews with protagonists, and musings from her travels to Dublin and New York. Kinsella began her Look Here project as a series of articles on her Tiny Letter blog, originally called a London Review of Looks. The essays are all inspired by her time in London, and the book has a lived-in feel.
The novel is a portrait of life in a city that is becoming increasingly unlivable. The author describes the shapeless streets and public spaces, especially in London and Dublin. As she describes the loss of such spaces, Kinsella makes it seem like the city is becoming a zombie wasteland.
Danehill Dancer
Danehill Dancer has a long, rich pedigree that includes a number of Group 1 winners. In 2009, he was named Champion Sire and top 2yr old sire in GB/Ireland. His sons have also bred Group 1 winners including Alice Springs, Minding, and The Gurkha. His first crop of foals, which are two-year-olds, include Dansili, Exceed And Excel, Fastnet Rock, and Dansili.
After retiring from racing in 1997, Danehill Dancer began a stallion career at Coolmore’s Australian base. He then returned to his native Ireland in 1998 and remained a regular shuttle stallion. In total, he sired 17 crops, producing 2,493 foals and earning $136 million. In 2009, Danehill Dancer was the leading sire by earnings in Ireland. He finished second in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. In his second season, Danehill Dancer raced in England and France, winning the Group 3 Greenham Stakes and the Prix Maurice de Gheest.
While Danehill Dancer looks here, Look Here is a better match for him. Look Here‘s dam died in 2007, and the mare was an unraced filly. The colt is an aggressive sprinter with a good stalking ability, and he’ll have a better effect against him.
Danehill
Danehill was an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse that dominated the racing world during his lifetime. He was the leading sire of all time with 349 stakes winners and 89 Grade 1 winners to his name. He was the leading sire in Australia nine times, Great Britain three times, and France twice.
One of his progeny, Dansili, was the first Danehill-Hasili foal to win the Group Two Prix du Muguet, the Group Three Prix Edmond Blanc, and the Group Two Prix Messidor. Some of his sons are also very good sires. His son, Banks Hill, is the sire of group one stakes winner Romantica.
The southern hemisphere foal crop of Danehill has produced numerous stakes winners, including the Blue Diamond Stakes, the C F Orr Stakes, and the Manikato Stakes. The dam of Redoute’s Choice, Snitzel, and Echelon is the dam of many stakes winners.
